Savannah: On the trail of colder temperatures

Savannah: On the trail of colder temperatures

Freezing temperatures are likely across parts of southeast Georgia and the Lowcountry this weekend. Cool temperatures will blanket the area Friday, reaching highs in the 50s. In addition to the cool temperatures on Friday, a few showers are possible from morning to early afternoon. Have an umbrella handy when shopping or running errands. Once the rain eases on Friday, the clouds will clear and the weather is expected to remain dry until at least next Wednesday. Clear skies on Friday evening will see temperatures quickly drop to over 30°C. The first frost of the fall season is possible for inland locations Saturday morning. Frost protection monitoring applies to several districts. I think this will be expanded and updated to a freeze warning as well. If you have vegetation or plants that need protection from the cold, be sure to cover them on Friday evening. Below average temperatures will continue through the middle of next week. Each night temperatures inland will drop to 28 to 36 degrees. Here’s a look at the forecast temperatures for Saturday at 7 a.m. Note that some upper 20s will appear well inland. The 10-day forecast for the Savannah area calls for lots of sunshine and cool afternoons in the 50s. Impact days for possible temperatures below freezing are in effect until next Wednesday morning.
