DC’s teaser for the first Superman trailer includes a quick look at the Man of Steel in action

Writer-director James Gunn has released a teaser for the first Superman trailer ahead of its release tomorrow, December 19th.

A trailer teaser wouldn’t normally be of interest, but it does offer a first, albeit brief, glimpse of Superman in action. The Man of Steel is seen in two shots: the first flying towards some sort of snow or ice structure, the second breaking the sound barrier as he races high into the air, both enhanced by a new take on John Williams’ iconic Superman Score invigorates.

We also get our first look inside and out at the Daily Planet, the famous fictional newspaper where Clark Kent and Lois Lane work as journalists. We see Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane as she stares at what we assume is a live feed displayed in the Daily Planet newsroom. Lois is flanked by other Daily Planet employees: Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo), Steve Lombard (Beck Bennett), Cat Grant (Mikaela Hoover) and Ron Troupe (Christopher McDonald). What doomsday event are they afraid of and will Superman save the day?

While we wait to find out, check out IGN’s interview with James Gunn where he reveals new details about his Superman film.

Coming to theaters on July 11, 2025, Superman is the first film in the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
