The Real Housewives of Potomac’s Karen Huger Is ‘Disappointed’ After Being Found Guilty of Drunk Driving and Will ‘Respect’ Jury’s Decision (Exclusive)

Karen Huger was found guilty on almost all charges after she was charged with drunken driving in Maryland in March.

“Although we are disappointed with the jury’s verdict, we obviously respect their decision and appreciate that they took the time to hear our case,” he said Real Housewives of Potomac Star’s attorney, A. Scott Bolden, tells PEOPLE exclusively in a statement.

Bolden, a partner at law firm Reed Smith, added: “We continue to reserve Ms. Huger’s right to appeal and fully intend to seek justice on her behalf. We thank you for your support and prayers for Ms. Huger and her family during this time.” ”

Following the March 19 incident, Huger, 61, was charged with DUI and DUI, negligently and carelessly operating a vehicle endangering property, life and persons, and recklessly and intentionally operating a vehicle has disregarded the safety of persons and property.

Other charges include failure to control vehicle speed on the highway to avoid a collision, operating a vehicle at speeds exceeding the reasonable and prudent speed on the highway, operating a vehicle on the highway with a suspended registration and failure to act , to inform the administration about a change of address within 30 days.

She was found guilty on all charges except reckless driving, her rep tells PEOPLE. The reality star’s sentencing is scheduled for January 29th.

A spokesperson for the Montgomery County Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE on March 20 that Huger was involved in a single-vehicle collision in Potomac. According to police, the TV presenter crossed a median and crashed into several street signs, but was not injured at the time of the accident.

Authorities also reportedly told TMZ that Huger was allegedly driving “aggressively” and very fast before the collision.

She was not under arrest at the time of the incident but received several citations.

On Huger’s first day in court on Tuesday, December 17, witnesses described what they noticed. According to Fox 5 DC, a man stated that Huger’s car allegedly smelled of alcohol. A volunteer paramedic who responded to the scene said Huger didn’t want treatment and was “staggering” as he tried to get into the ambulance. Inside the vehicle, the paramedic said Huger allegedly told them to “fuck off” and “fuck off” multiple times.

Minutes later, she complimented a firefighter and told her: “You’re so beautiful,” the paramedic said.

The jury also saw bodycam footage Tuesday in which an officer told Huger she had been “hammered,” a claim she described in the footage as “bull—.”

Huger broke her silence on the incident in a statement to TMZ on March 20. The reality star, whose parents died within seven months of each other in 2017, said she experienced a moment of grief on the evening of the crash.

“With the death of my beloved mother, grief comes and goes in waves, and as Mother’s Day approaches, it felt more like a tsunami,” she said. “Last night I met a friend for dinner, we chatted and touched on some very emotional topics. I was crying on the way home and saw a car coming straight towards me.”

She continued: “I swerved to avoid the head-on collision, hitting the divider and then a tree. I’m hurt, a little hurt, but so grateful to be alive! I have received allegations, one of which was unrelated to the incident, which is understandable, but what surprised me the most is that the car that almost hit me just drove away!”

Finally, Huger reminded fans to “underestimate her emotional state” before getting behind the wheel and praised her mother, whom she called her “guardian angel,” and her seatbelt for saving her life.

Huger’s arrest is a central storyline in Season 9 of The Real Housewives of Potomac, which airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
