Florida trades star wide receiver Dallas Wilson from Oregon

It didn’t happen the way many expected on signing day, but another Florida Gator is coming soon.

One of Billy Napier’s top overall targets in Tampa Bay (Florida). Tech wide receiver Dallas Wilson is expected to play for UF after opting out of the financial aid agreement he originally signed with Oregon on Dec. 4, according to Rivals sources around the No. 1 program.

The longtime Duck Pledge, who had been on board for nearly two years before the change of heart, visited Gainesville as a recruit. The initial flip momentum really increased when he made back-to-back visits to The Swamp in November. The second would be an official visit, where UF appeared to have finally closed the gap on the Ducks.

“They took a big step,” Wilson told Rivals of Florida after the win over LSU.

Wilson completes the elite wide receiver crop of Billy Napier and Co. and, along with veteran recruit Vernell Brown III, the speedy Naeshaun Montgomery from South Florida and the outstanding Muizz Tounkara, forms one of the best wide receiver crops in America.

Wilson is one of the most physically gifted pass catchers in the class of 2025 and is built like a classic But don’t let the size fool you, he’s a big threat, especially from the outside. He has several examples of using pace to clear the top of the defense, but there is also a physicality that he plays with once he has the football in his hands.

Wilson can win with both his frame and his play at the catch point, and he’s not afraid to let a defensive back know about one of his wins when they stack up. He has the upside that college coaches covet at every position, making him a potential alpha guy should things go well for him in Gainesville.

There’s room to improve and work with more consistency overall, especially as a route runner, but Wilson is the type of natural talent that a modern roster brings to the field early in its transition to college ball. This is an important point for the present and future of Billy Gonzalez’s wide receiver room.
