Christmas came early this morning with the release of the first one Superman Teaser trailer (You can watch it again by clicking here). It’s definitely given us a lot to talk about ahead of the holidays, and the film’s cast has now spoken more about what we can expect from the film.

For the Man of Steel himself, David Corenswet, Superman It was about embracing the hero’s supposed naivety and figuring out what that means for him as a superhero.

“When I was at school I was always cut out of the drama” the actor told Variety. “I never felt like I knew the exciting, exciting gossip that was going around. And that’s why I always saw people as the best versions of themselves – I don’t think in a particularly naive way.”

“A lot of people think of Superman as a naive character, and it’s really just a blindness to the little imperfections and the silly little things that we get caught up in as humans.” Corenswet continued. “I tend to miss those, and I think Superman misses them, and that’s what keeps him steadfast and determined to look toward the good and the hopeful.”

While Nicholas Hoult plays the villain Supermanhe still hopes fans see there’s more to it “smart and ruthless” character than you see at first glance.

“He has to outmaneuver Superman on certain levels because he can’t keep up with him on others.” Hoult teased. “But from my perspective, hopefully there’s something about this character that even though you might not agree with his process, you can understand where he’s coming from and why what he represents as his ideology might be better for humanity is.”

Rachel Brosnahan describes Lois Lane as a character who “evolves to fit what it would mean to be an intrepid journalist in any generation or decade in which it is presented.” She added: “Because of her job, but also because of her personality, she questions everything. She tries to look around every corner. And that’s the way she faces the world.”

As might be expected, conversations soon turned to the title character’s costume. Due to a lengthy design process, Corenswet says there wasn’t a single moment when he actually wore it “the first time.” What proved even more special, however, was observing the reactions of others.

“I didn’t feel like Superman, but it was so great watching my castmates and crew members. You can watch them do it. And the best part is watching the kids see it. There’s just nothing like it.”

According to Hoult, “When I saw David in the costume I was in awe. I hate to admit that it made me feel warm and fuzzy. There was a scene where he flew onto the set and I had a little private grin on my face. And I turned around and saw everyone else in the room watching him with the same expression on their faces.

ComicBook.com also caught up with the cast and asked Corenswet where Superman was based; In the trailer, a bloodied and beaten Man of Steel falls into the snow and demands that Krypto take him “home.”

“That’s what I say.” The actor began. “In the trailer you see Krypto dragging me through the snow. Do you think he’s going to drag me through the snow all the way to Kansas?” As expected, it’s probably the Fortress of Solitude.

In a final tidbit for you, writer and director James Gunn was asked Superman‘s term and said it is “under three hours…under two and a half.” For comparison: Superman: The Movie And Man of Steel were both 143 minutes and Superman returns was a whopping 154 minutes.

SupermanDC Studios’ first feature film to hit the big screen will be released in theaters worldwide this summer by Warner Bros. Pictures.
