Manchester United and Marcus Rashford transfer: what happens next? Will he leave in January?

With a basic salary of over £300,000 a week, Rashford is one of United’s top earners. Only a few clubs can afford this salary and some of them are not on the market for various reasons.

Barcelona’s financial problems are well known in Spain. Real Madrid are already struggling to find the right attacking combination of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham.

Shortly before the summer transfer deadline, Atlético paid Manchester City a lot of money for Julian Alvarez.

Of England’s top clubs, Manchester City and Liverpool seem a bit over the top, even with City in such poor form. Arsenal need a central striker – and Rashford doesn’t like playing there. Chelsea appear to have spent enough. Tottenham are inconsistent but they are unlikely to drop captain Son Heung-min, who plays on the left.

Paris St-Germain has been repeatedly mentioned as a possible destination over the years, but the French giants have always distanced themselves from such talks.

United have previously been linked with Randal Kolo Muani. However, even a trade is questionable as Rasmus Hojlund appears to be impressing as Amorim’s first choice to lead the attack.

The Saudi Pro League could make a big statement by signing such an instantly recognizable figure from the Premier League at just 27 years old. However, there is a feeling that Rashford is not convinced by this plan.

A loan with some kind of wage subsidy seems possible. But United have repeatedly pointed to their strict Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and commitment to playing by the rules, so paying for a high earner to play for someone else would be counterproductive.
