Tigers land transfer wide receiver

That didn’t last long.

Horatio Fields chose Auburn.

One day on his official visit to the Plains, the former Wake Forest wide receiver announced his intention to transfer to Auburn. He is the 11th signing for the Tigers and the first wide receiver to jump in this window.

“What Coach (Marcus) Davis preached,” Fields said of the reason for Auburn. “He was very transparent and from the start, nothing he said on the phone was missed. I could be maximized here.”

Originally from Douglasville, Georgia, Fields was a two-star recruit out of high school who signed with Wake Forest in the 2021 class. He spent the last four seasons with the Demon Deacons before entering the transfer portal for his final year of play.

His most productive season for Wake Forest came last fall, when he finished second on the team in both receptions (39) and yards (463) while scoring four touchdowns.

With former five-star quarterback and freshman Jackson Arnold expected to lead the offense, Fields feels like things are moving in the right direction.

“I think they know they can take the next step with him,” Fields said after his visit. “They’re excited to see what he can bring to the table and I know with a QB like him, I think the sky’s the limit for sure.”

Fields will enroll in January and will have one season of eligibility remaining.
