Kantina leaves CWRU Hillel and moves to the east side | Local News

Kantina will leave his home at the Albert and Norma Geller Hillel Student Center in Cleveland’s University Circle neighborhood and move to Lyndhurst. Kantina will open in January 2025 at 5361 Mayfield Road in the former space of Big B’s Barbecue.

Seth Bromberg, a Kantina partner, told the Cleveland Jewish News that the restaurant will move closer to the Jewish community.

“We wanted the restaurant to be closer to the community,” said Bromberg, a Pepper Pike resident and parishioner of B’nai Jeshurun ​​Congregation in Pepper Pike.

Kantina will have seating as well as catering options.

New kosher options are available to students at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland through the university, according to an email statement from the university.

“Case Western Reserve University offers a kosher meal option through Yuval Catering, a local certified kosher caterer,” the statement said.

Last year, the university partnered with Bon Appetit Management Company, which worked with executive chef Yuval Rub to provide kosher dining accommodations to its students as part of the university’s kosher meal plan during Passover, according to a news release from anews release. Kosher dining options were also provided by the Cleveland Hillel Foundation.

Multiple attempts to reach the Cleveland Hillel Foundation for comment were unsuccessful.

In addition to the move, Kantina is also bringing in managing partner and executive chef Matthew Fishbaum, Bromberg said. Fishbaum is originally from New York but moved to Cleveland with his family four years ago.

“We have worked with Chef Matt and are excited to have him as a partner,” said Bromberg.
