Who stood out in the draw against Bournemouth?

Julen Lopetegui has been under a lot of pressure as West Ham United manager recently. There were many names linked with his replacement at the London Stadium. However, his team can take heart from the 1-1 draw against strong AFC Bournemouth, who are now sixth in the Premier League.

The Hammers remain in 14th place in the Premier League but are seven points above the relegation zone. Lopetegui’s side face difficult fixtures with games against Brighton & Hove Albion, Liverpool and Manchester City.

Below we rate West Ham’s players on a scale of 1 to 10.

Lukasz Fabianski (TW): 8

The 39-year-old turned back the years and made many great saves. Fabianski could do nothing about Enes Unal’s free kick which saved Bournemouth a point. The Polish goalkeeper has established himself as West Ham’s number one – having played his last eight Premier League games ahead of Alphonse Areola.

Vladimir Coufal (RB): 7

Coufal was solid defensively and got into good attacking positions. However, he fired a shot wide of the goal and his cross or final ball could have been better.

Dinos Mavropanos (CB): 6

Mavropanos performed well but gave away the free kick late on that Unal scored.

Max Kilman (CB): 8

Excellent performance from Kilman who made excellent blocks and goal line runs. Kilman is a real leader in West Ham’s defence.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (LB): 7

Wan-Bissaka had to be disciplined in this game as Mohammed Kudus played in front of him. Nevertheless, he put a great cross to Niclas Fullkrug, where the German should have scored. It was also Wan-Bissaka’s cross that hit the hand of Tyler Adams that led to West Ham’s penalty.

Edson Alvarez (CDM): 7

Protected the defense well and got into the defense when needed. Took one for the team and was booked for it. Alvarez also tried his luck with a shot from distance.

Thomas Soucek (CM): 7

Made sure things continued in midfield and almost scored a goal just before half-time.

Carlos Soler (CM): 7

A shot was deflected just wide of the goal and should have gone into the corner. Soler was also booked, his fifth time this season – meaning he will miss the next game against Brighton.

Lucas Paqueta (RW): 7

Paqueta was less effective in his unusual position on the right. Nevertheless, the Brazilian converted his penalty with ease and gave the Hammers the lead.

Jarrod Bowen (ST): 7

Bowen was unlucky not to give West Ham the lead when his shot hit the crossbar. The captain filled in well up front while Michail Antonio recovered from his car accident and Fullkrug and Danny Ings were both on the bench.

Mohammed Kudus (LW): 7

Played an excellent through ball for Bowen, who then hit the woodwork. Kudus impressed again as he charged at the defenders. Many fans were not happy that he was substituted when Oliver Scarles came on in the 75th minute.
