Nebraska football announces the hiring of three defensive coaches

The Nebraska football team has added to its defensive coaching staff for next season.

Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule officially announced Thursday that Phil Snow will join the Huskers as the team’s associate head coach, while Addison Williams will coach the defensive backs and Terry Bradden will coach the NU defensive line.

“Terry Bradden, Phil Snow and Addison Williams are excellent additions to our coaching staff,” Rhule said in a press release. “Each of them is an ideal fit for their role on our defensive team. They are all elite teachers who have been part of successful programs and organizations. The experience they bring to our defensive team will be invaluable as we defend a variety of offenses in the Big Ten Conference.”

Snow, a former defensive coordinator at Rhule, worked as an analyst for Nebraska in 2024. Williams is transferring from UCF to Nebraska, while Bradden will leave the Kansas City Chiefs to work for the Huskers.

Bradden, NU’s defensive lineman, spent the last eight seasons in Kansas City and will continue to instill the defensive principles Rhule believes in.

“I wanted someone from a certain system,” Rhule said last week about his defensive line hire. “…I want a man who is involved in professional football, I want a man with great relationship skills, I want a man who can hold the boys accountable. You don’t need a friend; They need a coach to help them get to where they want to be.”

Nebraska’s defensive coaching staff, coordinated by John Butler, now has its position coaches with Williams in the secondary and Bradden at the helm. Rob Dvoracek returns as linebackers coach, while Phillip Simpson will coach the outside linebackers.
