“Hawk Tuah” girl Haliey Welch has disappeared from public view after the crypto carpet heist

Haliey Welch has disappeared.

The “Hawk Tuah” girl hasn’t released a new episode of her popular weekly podcast “Talk Tuah” in two weeks. There was no previously announced interruption to the show. Welch also hasn’t posted anything on her social media channels in weeks.

Welch became a viral sensation over the summer after she dropped what would become her catchphrase “Hawk Tuah” in a video clip that spread like wildfire across the internet. Welch capitalized on her internet fame by selling merchandise like T-shirts and eventually starting a weekly podcast called Talk Tuah, which shot to the top of the Spotify podcast charts.

Everything seemed to be going well for Welch. And then her launched their own cryptocurrency. The public has not heard from her since.

“Anyway, I’m going to bed.”

On December 4th, Welch announced that their Hawk Tuah memecoin, $HAWK, had gone live. The memecoin’s value quickly exploded, with a market capitalization in the hundreds of millions of dollars collapse. Many who bought $HAWK had lost a significant amount of money within minutes.

Welch’s fans who had invested began to blame those directly involved in the project. Research into the memecoin found that the vast majority of tokens were held by just a few wallets, with those who invested claiming that pre-launch insiders had gained access to the cryptocurrency before it was sold to the public. Some said that these insiders dumped $HAWK for a profit after the launch and Welch’s fans should bear the responsibility.

Welch and OverHere, the crypto team she worked with, hosted a public Spaces stream on X, formerly known as Twitter. During the live audio chat, Welch and her partners were heavily criticized by listeners, including YouTube’s popular crypto scam investigator Coffeezilla.

Before $HAWK holders could get concrete answers as to why $HAWK crashed, Welch interrupted the stream.

“Hey guys!” What said on the late night stream on December 5th. “I hate to interrupt you, Nick, but hello. Anyway, I’m going to bed and I’ll see you tomorrow.”

And that was the last the public heard from Welch since then.

It is not the end of the Hawk Tuah coin saga

While Welch has yet to comment, her partners at OverHere recently made an attempt address the situation. The group blamed Alex Larson Schultz, also known as Doc Hollywood, who “controlled all symbolic decisions, fees and the treasury,” according to OverHere. Schultz is a music producer, DJ and crypto promoter best known to the public as the son-in-law of comedian Howie Mandel.

Schultz has not yet commented on OverHere’s statement. Mashable attempted to contact Welch but has not yet heard back.

The Talk Tuah podcast launched on September 3rd and has released a new episode every week since then. The final episode of Talk Tuah was released on December 3rd, a day before the launch of $HAWK.

Welch has also not posted on social media since the cryptocurrency’s failed launch on December 4th.

However, we may hear from Welch or at least other members of her $HAWK team soon. Hawk Tuah Memecoin investors filed a lawsuit on Thursday against the founders of $HAWK, alleging that they illegally sold unregistered securities.
