Like many parents, George and Amal Clooney have established lovely family traditions with their seven-year-old twins Alexander and Ella, especially during the holiday season.

The 63-year-old Hollywood actor and the 46-year-old human rights lawyer generally prefer to keep their personal lives private and have never shared photos of their children.

However, George occasionally gives insight into their lives as mothers and fathers the special rituals they have for their children at Christmas time.

During an interview with Stephen Colbert on his late night talk show, the Ocean’s 11 The actor spoke about how his children preferred a particular tradition from their British-Lebanese mother Amal over their American-born father.

He began with a joke: “Look, I already have problems, and I’m desperately trying not to turn them into little Brits,” Clooney told Colbert. “It’s not a sweater, it’s a sweater. It’s not a boot, it’s the trunk. It’s the sidewalk, it’s the sidewalk…”

Mentioning the festive tradition, George added: “I did everything I could to change her version to speak with an English accent, so they wrote down her note.”

“I said, ‘So we leave them biscuits and my son says, ‘No, it’s milk and a mince pie.'”

George and Amal’s twins inherited language skills

It’s not just the cultural traditions they inherited from Amal, Ella and Alexander have also impressively inherited the language skills from their multilingual mother.

Last year, Oscar winner George Jimmy Kimmel told that the young people speak English, French and Italian. “I’m not a very smart person. I armed my children, they speak French and Italian.”

This will undoubtedly be useful for the twins as they grow up, as their parents live in both European countries.

Although George has owned his impressive Lake Como villa complex for 20 years, the family spends more time in France than in Italy.

The couple settled in Provence in 2021 after purchasing a stunning castle worth more than $8 million, and it was previously reported that parents want to raise Alexander and Ella in France.

The house, called Domaine Le Canadel, sits on a stunning 18th century vineyard in the beautiful picturesque town of Brignoles.

It has over 400 acres of land and the castle itself sounds incredible with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms as well as an outbuilding and garages for their vehicles.

The couple were recently pictured taking a stroll through Provence, enjoying the winter sunshine in the run up to Christmas. In exclusive images released by HELLO! George and Amal were photographed relaxed and content as they visited a restaurant.

Amal looked sensational in blue cut-off denim shorts and a beige blouse, while George wore his signature polo tee with sleek chinos.
