Nobody is safe in the final Saturday Night Live Show from 2024.

In the first promo for the December 21 episode, host Martin Short gets into the Christmas spirit with lavish gifts – but only his “famous friends” made it.

As Ashley Padilla, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker entered Studio 8H at the start of the teaser, Short, 74, stood in front of an impressive Christmas display and presented each cast member with a gift.

“I got something special for everyone,” he said to Padilla, Longfellow and Walker, who opened the boxes and found them empty. “And the special thing is that I wrap all my presents for all my famous friends, which of course isn’t you three.”

Short then went over a few of the gifts he needs to help wrap for some of his top friends, including Colin Jost, Steve Martin and Al Pacino.

“This book is now for Colin Jost,” Short said, holding up a self-help book with the title How to develop a personality. The 42-year-old Jost needs it because, in Short’s words: “Cocaine calls him ‘the challenge’.”

The 84-year-old Pacino was next and Short had a baby rattle for him. “This baby rattle is for Al Pacino. Not for his baby,” he said, referring to the 18-month-old child the actor gave birth to with his ex-girlfriend Noor Alfallah in June 2023 at the age of 84. “It’s actually for Al.”

Short got sunscreen for Martin, 79. “It’s SPF Infinity because let’s face it, Steve is whiter than a Coldplay meet-and-greet,” he teased. “His blood type is mayonnaise.”

Short’s three children, Katherine, Oliver and Henry, whom he shares with his late wife Nancy Dolman, received the final round of gifts when Short held up a few glossy photos of himself and revealed that they were intended for his children.

He then wished Padilla, 31, Longfellow, 30, and Walker, 33, “Merry Christmas,” but when they tried to hug each other, he freaked out and told them, “Stop it!”

“Don’t touch me,” Short demanded as the promo ended. “It’s a Merry Christmas – from afar.”

Saturday’s show will be Short’s third time hosting SNL Solo and hosting for the fifth time overall.

Hozier will be the musical guest for the episode and it will be the second time the Irish singer has appeared.
