Kate and William reveal touching Christmas card

The Prince and Princess of Wales have unveiled a Christmas card with personal meaning, using an image from the video released as Catherine announced the end of her chemotherapy treatment.

The emotional video, which focuses on family and supporting each other through difficult times, was filmed in Norfolk in August.

Catherine’s personal video at the end of her treatment following her cancer diagnosis had the message “Light can come out of darkness”.

The image used by filmmaker Will Warr for this year’s card shows Prince William and Catherine and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The card, which has a very personal connection to what has been a difficult year for the couple, has already been sent by post but has now been revealed on social media.

The card contains the message “I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

After her cancer treatment, Catherine gradually returns to public work.

She visited the families of the bereaved Knife attack in Southport in October and some of these families were among the guests at Catherine’s Church service with Christmas carolswhich she hosted at Westminster Abbey this month.

Prince William said this had been a “brutal” time for their family described the past year as the “hardest year” of his life.

The Will Warr video used for the Christmas card was seen as a strikingly different approach to publishing a royal message.

It was a September health update explaining that Catherine had completed her chemotherapy, but it had a much more personal style and an overtly emotional message.

“Life as you know it can change in an instant and we had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and the unknown road,” she said in a voiceover to the video, which showed images of the family in the Norfolk countryside .

This tone continued in a letter she sent to guests at her Christmas carol concert, in which she called for “love instead of fear.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales are already at Sandringham in Norfolk for Christmas and therefore missed the traditional pre-Christmas royal meeting at Buckingham Palace on Thursday.

On Wednesday it was announced that the The Duke and Duchess of York would not be attending the lunch for the extended royal family in the wake of controversy over the Duke’s contacts with a suspected Chinese spy.

This year’s Christmas card from Prince William and Catherine follows their style of informal and relaxed family pictures, without traditional royal images.

Last year they were seen in one more artistic black and white imageshows them together as a family, but also with a style that is somewhat reminiscent of an upscale jeans advertisement.

This year’s card from King Charles and Queen Camilla shows her outdoors in a cheerful image taken shortly after the king learned he would be well enough to return to his public duties.

“Merry Christmas” to Prince Harry and Meghan This year’s card included an appearance by the couple’s two children.
