Harry Kane is about to return to Bayern against Leipzig – Vincent Kompany

Harry Kane, FC Bayern Munich’s top scorer, is on track to bounce back from injury in Friday’s Bundesliga home game against RB Leipzig, coach Vincent Kompany said on Thursday.

Kane, who has scored 14 goals in 12 league games this season, has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw at Borussia Dortmund last month.

“I won’t say whether it starts or not. The final training is still important today. If everything goes well, he will definitely play a role tomorrow,” Kompany told reporters.

The England international, who topped the scorers list with 36 goals in the last Bundesliga season, was irreplaceable in Bayern’s attack, said Kompany.

“We have said before that we cannot replace Harry Kane on the same basis. “Harry has this incredible sense of where he needs to be in the penalty area,” added the Belgian coach.

“He is one of the best in the world in the penalty area, that’s where he makes the difference. There aren’t many players who can do that.”

Bayern suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday, a 2-1 defeat at Mainz, with Kompany missing several key players due to injuries, including Kane, João Palhinha, Alphonso Davies, Serge Gnabry and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Kompany said he was pleased to see Davies, Kane and Josip Stanisic back in training and hoped others would return during the three-week winter break, which begins on Saturday.

“If things go as well on Friday as they did in training yesterday, we will be in good shape,” he said.

With 33 points from 14 games, Bayern are four points ahead of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen, while fourth-placed Leipzig have 27 points.
