The Bundesliga sees a rapid goalscoring record as Bayern score five goals against dismal Leipzig

MUNICH (AP) — Bayern Munich beat Leipzig 5-1 and broke a long-standing Bundesliga record for quick goals on Friday.

Two teams had never scored in the first two minutes of a Bundesliga game until Jamal Musiala gave Bayern the lead after 28 seconds and Benjamin Šeško equalized almost 60 seconds later.

After that hectic start, the pace slowed, but not for long. Konrad Laimer gave Bayern the lead against his old club in the 25th minute. Michael Olise found space on the right and Laimer gave Péter Gulácsi no chance with a crisp volley.

Nine minutes later, Joshua Kimmich shot from almost 30 meters to make it 3-1.

Leroy Sané added a fourth goal 15 minutes from time and Alphonso Davies scored his first league goal of the season three minutes later to complete the defeat.

Harry Kane returned looking rusty after missing two games with a hamstring injury, but played 87 minutes of a game that helped Bayern get back on track after a rocky run.

After winning eight straight games from late October to late November, the Bavarian giants lost two and one of their next five draws, including a 2-1 loss to Mainz last week, their first defeat in the Bundesliga.

Friday’s result increased the lead over defending champions Bayer Leverkusen to seven points. Leverkusen plays against Freiburg on Saturday.
