How much snow? The storm strength on Thursday was spread across Minnesota

Parts of Minnesota received more than half a foot of snow from Thursday’s winter storm. For large parts of the state, it was the largest snowfall of the winter so far.

That meant difficult travel on highways throughout the region, a busy day for snowplow drivers – and a chance for winter fans to have fun in the fresh powder.

Here are the latest snowfall reports from across Minnesota and neighboring states as provided by the National Weather Service:

  • 8.1 inches – Northfield, Credit River

  • 8 inches – Le Center, Holt; Arcadia, Wisconsin.

  • 7.9 inches – Henderson

  • 7.8 inches – St. Peter

  • 7.7 inches – Oronoco

  • 7.5 inches – Montgomery, Shorewood, Brownton

  • 7.4 inches – New Prague

  • 7.2 inches – Dennison, Winthrop, Oakdale, Kasota

  • 7.1 inches – Welch, Independence, Douglas

  • 7” – Kellogg, New Prague, La Crescent; Buffalo, Wisconsin; Mayville, N.D
