Ohio State or Tennessee? Will the favorites win? Our picks for the first round of the College Football Playoff

The College Football Playoff for the 2024 season is finally here. Four first-round games will be played on campus this weekend.

It begins Friday night with No. 7 Notre Dame hosting No. 10 Indiana. Then on Saturday, No. 11 seed SMU visits No. 6 Penn State, followed by No. 5 Texas taking on No. 12 Clemson and No. 8 Ohio State hosting No. 9 Tennessee.

All four winners advance to the CFP quarterfinals, which take place on December 31 and January 1 at bowl sites across the country. Ohio State-Tennessee winner faces No. 1 Oregon in the Rose Bowl; the Texas-Clemson winner will play No. 4 Arizona State in the Peach Bowl; the Penn State-SMU winner will face No. 3 Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl; and the winner of Notre Dame-Indiana will face No. 2 Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
