Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love calls out “stumbling” teammates for shirtless warmups

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Indiana Hoosiers will open the first round of the College Football Playoff with Friday night’s standalone game in beautiful South Bend. Of course, if you’re in this part of the country on December 20th, the weather will play a factor, and that was certainly the case at Notre Dame Stadium.

With temperatures in the 20s and possibly more snow predicted, there was no shortage of cold-weather gear worn by fans and many players warming up – but not all players. In fact, a large portion of the Notre Dame roster was shown on the College GameDay feed warming up before the game, not only without cold weather gear, but without shirts at all!

However, struggling Irish running back Jeremiyah Love was not one of those players. He was wrapped up as he went through his pregame routine and did a quick interview with the College GameDay crew. Of course, they asked him if his Notre Dame teammates warmed up shirtless, and he said what we were probably all thinking.

“You’re tripping, it’s cold out here!” Love said. “I don’t know what they’re doing.”

Honestly, given the conditions and the lack of upper body clothing, this can hardly be called a “warm-up.”

The full irony of this interview is that Love’s face was the only exposed skin he showed during warm-ups, while his teammates, eager to show off their strength, wore no T-shirts. God, college football is the dumbest, most beautiful sport in the world. How can you not love it!

However, weather is expected to be one of the big storylines in the first round of the College Football Playoff, especially since three of the games will be played in the Midwest. What’s interesting about Notre Dame Stadium, however, is that it may be the least advantageous to the Fighting Irish than any other home team.

Even though Bloomington, home of the Hoosiers, is slightly warmer than South Bend, the conditions are still relatively similar and shouldn’t be too much of an adjustment for Indiana. The same can’t quite be said for the Tennessee Volunteers, who visit frigid Columbus, OH on Saturday to take on Oho State, even if things get a little chilly in Knoxville. The biggest shock to the system, however, may be the SMU Mustangs moving from Dallas to Happy Valley to face Penn State. That’s a pretty stark contrast.

Of course, the Clemson Tigers won’t have to worry about that when they travel to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns.

But we’ll have to wait and see how the weather ultimately impacts these opening games of the 12-team CFP bracket. Again, it may be less advantageous for Notre Dame in this particular matchup with Indiana, but then again, you never know – especially with the possibility of snow being involved. However, we can say with certainty that Jeremiyah Love does not see the cold as an advantage and that he does not do shirtless warm-ups in these conditions.
