The Milwaukee Bucks had big problems on Friday night without Damian Lillard.

With Lillard sidelined with a calf strain, the Bucks suffered a one-sided 124-101 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Head coach Doc Rivers’ team fell into a 17-8 hole early and was unable to recover, as Cleveland led by 18 at halftime thanks to a 40-point second-quarter score.

The Cavaliers shot 51 percent from the field as a team and hit 20 of their 47 three-point attempts. The Bucks struggled with ball security, recording 20 turnovers compared to 23 assists.

Giannis Antetokounmpo finished the game with 33 points and 14 rebounds along with three steals, but no other member of Rivers’ rotation scored at least 15 points.

While Cleveland has the association’s best record at 24-4, it was still a disappointing result for Milwaukee after the team’s 2024 NBA Cup victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday.

Fans chanted Rivers and the Bucks.

Doc Rivers could run out of timeouts in the first half as the Bucks return to transition defense.

Donovan Mitchell led Cleveland, finishing the game with 27 points and six assists on 9-for-15 shooting. He also scored on three of his seven attempts from behind the arc.

On Friday, the Bucks and Cavs met for the third time this season, with Cleveland winning all three meetings.

Milwaukee will look to bounce back on Saturday against the Washington Wizards. The meeting point is at 8:00 p.m. ET.
