When is Santa Claus coming to Mississippi? Follow him with NORAD, Google

If your family is ready to track down Santa, NORAD is making its Santa Tracker available for its 69th year. Or, like everything else we search for all year long, you can use Google.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command works 365 days a year to protect America from air attacks. But on December 24th comes the additional task of keeping track of jolly old St. Nick’s progress in delivering gifts around the world.

If you’re waiting for Santa Claus, there’s an app for that. NORAD Tracks Santa is available for Android and Apple devices. Their website, noradsanta.org, is also active throughout December and is available in nine languages.

The app and website include Santa’s North Pole Village and offer:

A holiday countdown.
Games for children.
Movies.
Music.

According to NORAD, the tracker will also be available on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and X.

Updates with a live map begin online at 5:00 a.m. CT and continue until December 25 at 1:00 a.m. CT.

Your family can also call 1-877-HI-NORAD (1-877-446-6723) for verbal updates. The phones are open from 7:00 a.m. CT to 1:00 a.m. CT.

How did NORAD start tracking Santa Claus?

Tracking Santa Claus is something NORAD has been doing for decades. Legend has it that an ad in a Colorado Springs newspaper in 1955 encouraged children to call Santa Claus, but accidentally included the phone number for the Continental Air Defense Command, the predecessor of NORAD, which was also based in Colorado Springs.
