Tesla is recalling almost 700,000 vehicles due to tire pressure display problems

Tesla has issued a recall for almost 700,000 vehicles due to a problem with the tire pressure display.

The electric car maker is recalling certain 2024 Cybertruck models, 2017 to 2025 Model 3 and 2020 to 2025 Model Y because the tire pressure monitoring system warning light “may not illuminate between drive cycles and may not alert the driver of low tire pressure.” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Thursday.

The NHTSA released its safety recall report Tuesday, finding that “driving with improperly inflated tires increases the risk of a crash.”

The recall affects around 694,000 vehicles.

Tesla said it had released a free over-the-air software update as a remedy.

Owner notification letters are expected to be sent on February 15, 2025.

This isn’t the first recall the automaker has faced. Its Cybertruck alone has received seven recalls this year, The Associated Press reported.

Last month, a recall of the Cybertruck focused on “a failure in the traction inverter,” which the NHTSA said “could result in a loss of traction power to the wheels.” The recall affected around 2,400 vehicles. In this case, Tesla said it would replace the drive inverter free of charge.

In July, Tesla recalled more than 1.8 million vehicles after receiving reports that some vehicles’ hoods were unintentionally popping open.
