According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Mr. Christmas, a Christmas tree lighting company, is recalling 44,600 wireless decorative tree light controllers sold at retailers such as Walmart and Target due to fire risks.

According to the CPSC, the wireless receivers that are part of the tree light controls “can overheat and pose a fire hazard.”

The recalled model numbers displayed on the wireless receivers include:

  1. 39611
  2. 39612
  3. 39630

No injuries have been reported yet, but there have been 10 incidents in which the receivers overheated, in one case causing a fire.

The controllers were sold at Walmart, Target and Cracker Barrel locations nationwide and online between July and November and cost between $25 and $40.

The controllers sold at Walmart and Cracker Barrel look like a green, red and white mint with a candy cane on/off lever labeled “Christmas Light Controller.”

The controller sold at Target looks like a square box with a power button and green, red and white balls. This controller is marked “Tree Lighting Switch”.

“Consumers should immediately stop using this product and return it to the location where they purchased it for a full refund,” Mr. Christmas said in a recall notice.
