The First Alert Weather Team says winter began this morning at 4:21 a.m. with the winter solstice.

Temperatures this morning will be cool, in the upper 30s and lower 40s, but will feel like the upper 20s to mid 30s thanks to the wind.

It will be a sunny and beautiful day, but cool with high temperatures in the 50s across the area.

Less wind this evening will result in frost developing inland early Sunday morning.

Sunday will be partly sunny with some coastal clouds in the afternoon.

The potential for showers will increase from Monday, but significant amounts of rain are not expected.
