Army fell from the undefeated ranks last week with a 49-14 loss to Notre Dame. However, this will not impact the Black Knights’ pursuit of an AAC championship as they face Tulane in the title game next week. Then the following week is the annual showdown between the Army and Navy.

First, they have to deal with a suddenly hot UTSA team that has won four of its last five and should have won all five had the Roadrunners not blown a 35-7 lead in Tulsa. This is the proverbial sandwich spot for Army.

Additionally, Army is likely banged up, having just played Notre Dame last week. In fact, every team that played Notre Dame experienced some repercussions the following week.

UTSA also holds up relatively well against the No. 1 rushing attack in the country, as the Roadrunners rank in the top 10 nationally against the run.

As the world’s most famous roadrunner would say, “Meep Meep.”

Week 14 College Football Best Bet: UTSA +7

Tennessee rose three spots to No. 8 in the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday and should be in a win-and-in situation this Saturday at Vanderbilt.

However, that number is quite a burden against their in-state rival Vanderbilt, who is already bowling for the first time in six seasons.

It’s also a big tax to pay giant-killer Vandy QB Diego Pavia, considering he’s covered seven times in the last two seasons as a double-digit underdog, including five times this season (Vanderbilt is 7-1 ATS as an underdog in 2024), including three overall wins over Alabama, Kentucky and Virginia Tech.

All the pressure is on Tennessee here and Vanderbilt will play loose and free.

Week 14 College Football Best Bet: Vanderbilt +11

Notre Dame is likely to be a 30-point favorite against Northern Illinois in the College Football Playoff even if they lose. Since that shocking loss, the Irish have gone 9-0 SU and 7-2 ATS. Now they close out the regular season against a rival.

This isn’t the easiest schedule for Notre Dame, considering they were in the Bronx last weekend, came home and are now traveling across the country to Los Angeles. This week also marks Notre Dame’s first true away game since Sept. 14 at Purdue.

While 6-5 is certainly a disappointing season for USC, they have played a bit better of late since switching to Jayden Maiava as QB, as he is the better runner and fits Lincoln Riley’s offense better than Miller Moss.

Surprisingly, USC is one of six teams in the country to have a fourth-quarter lead in every game this season. The other five are Notre Dame, Oregon, Ohio State, Boise State and UNLV, all with the likelihood or potential of reaching the College Football Playoff.

Remember, USC was +3.5 at home against Penn State, which is just one spot ahead of Notre Dame in the CFP. This is a slightly inflated number.

Week 14 College Football Best Bet: USC +7.5

Texas and Texas A&M met 118 times (Texas leads 76-37-5) until their last meeting in 2011 when A&M moved to the SEC. The Longhorns have now joined the Aggies in the SEC, and now the rivalry is set to resume after a 13-year hiatus.

The rivalry also continues with high stakes as the winner will face Georgia in the SEC Championship Game next week.

Despite its schedule, Texas has been ranked near the top of the College Football Playoff rankings all season. Five of the Longhorns’ six conference wins have come against conference opponents with losing records in conference play. In their only matchup against an elite team, Texas was easily handled by Georgia at home.

Now they have a chance to secure their CFP spot against Texas A&M. The Aggies were hanging on the periphery of the CFP until their 4 OT loss at Auburn last weekend.

Texas failed to impress against top-ranked defenses and now QB Quinn Ewers is dealing with an ankle injury. Meanwhile, A&M scored 41 points and 464 yards against a top-ranked Auburn defense. This week the Aggies step up their game and face Texas’ second-largest defense. However, Texas faced several weak offenses in the SEC, such as Kentucky, Mississippi State, Arkansas and Oklahoma. The Aggies offense is also a step up in class for the Longhorns.

Gig’Em.

Week 14 College Football Best Bet: Texas A&M +5.5

THE BEST OF THE REST

Eastern Michigan +7 -120 in Western Michigan
