In the history of the College Football Playoff, 21 different teams have competed. Listed below are the college football teams with the most College Football Playoff wins and appearances since the postseason format was introduced in 2014. In 2024, the playoff field was expanded from four to twelve teams.

Here are the 12 teams selected for the 2024-25 College Football Playoff, ranked in seeding order:
