Indiana Basketball vs. Chattanooga results updates: Hoosiers beat Mocs

Indiana basketball struggles offensively for the second straight game late Saturday, but manages to beat Chattanooga 74-65.

Mackenzie Mgbako scored 14 points, Malik Reneau added 14 with 8 rebounds and 3 steals and Oumar Ballo had 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the Hoosiers (9-3). IU makes 5 of 20 3-point shots and 11 of 20 free throws.

IU went without a field goal between 12:37 and 2:50 of the second half, similar to its late failure against Nebraska a week earlier.

Honor Huff led the Mocs (8-5) with 20 points, and Trey Bonham and Bash Wieland each had 11. Chattanooga made 10 of 28 3s.

The Hoosiers host Winthrop on Dec. 29 before resuming Big Ten play.

Indiana needs a big boost from Nebraska, but the next two games are no gift. Chattanooga and Winthrop each have current NCAA Tournament pedigree and both are highly regarded in metrics. For a mid-sized team, the Mocs are particularly good offensively. They can drive and pedal, and they’re not terrible on the edge. IU should win, but with the odd tip-off time the morning after a big football game, it might not be a pleasant afternoon.
