The Pittsburgh Steelers’ contract price for Russell Wilson has been announced

The Pittsburgh Steelers will pay a quarterback this offseason. Most likely that quarterback will be Russell Wilson, who has played well this season and helped the Steelers post a 10-4 record at the top of the AFC North.

However, the range of Wilson contracts floating around is pretty strange. There was the idea that Wilson could make so much money that the Steelers could opt out and let him walk. On the other hand, previous deals such as the Baker Mayfield or Geno Smith deals were used as a barometer.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz dismissed a prediction he heard that he believes makes sense for Wilson. The idea is that Wilson would get three years for $100 million. Some of these may not be guaranteed, which would allow the Steelers to get some outs against a quarterback who is 36 years old and still getting older.

“There’s a very good chance the Steelers will extend Russell Wilson similar to what Tampa did with Baker Mayfield – three years, $100 million,” Schultz said.

The Steelers need to be careful with Wilson’s age. Still, given his play this year, the team remains strongly interested in re-signing Wilson as the starting quarterback in 2025.

It seems like it’s a matter of when, not if, this will happen. Wilson expressed his desire to return to Pittsburgh on Hard Knocks, and after struggling with the Denver Broncos, it seems likely for Wilson to stay in a place that has fostered his success.
