Jake Majors and Quintrevion Wisner Injury Update: ESPN provides latest update on Texas starter

Shortly before halftime there were three serious injuries Texas during Saturday College Football Playoffs First round game vs. Clemsonand all in the same game. Jake Majors, Cameron WilliamsAnd Quintrevion Wisner had to leave the game before going to the halftime locker room. The trio is crucial to what Steve Sarkisian likes to be on the offensive.

ESPN’s Laura Rutledge provided a comprehensive update from the break, starting with good news about the Texas running back.

“That’s the good news,” Rutledge said. “You see Quintrevion Wisner out there after he struggled with injuries at the end of the first half.

Jaydon Blue played the final drive of the first half for Texas, but Wisner is there to start the third quarter. Since taking over as primary ball carrier, he has been a rock for the Longhorns and shined with two touchdowns early against Clemson. Getting him back is huge news.

Let’s move on to two bad updates – neither Majors nor Williams entered the game at the start of the second half. Majors came out of the locker room late, leading to a reshuffle of the entire Texas offensive line.

“This O-line in Texas is going to look different. Jake Majors, the center who is so important to this team, still hasn’t returned. We see it Hayden Conner as the center. Backup Center Cole Hutson at left guard. Trevor Goosbyimpressive, is in the right tackle. But guys, he can also play on the left.”

Conner moves from left guard while Hutson is now part of the Texas Five. He was able to contribute on the 40 Acres early in his career and will be no stranger to this moment.

There is some confidence in what Goosby can do at tackle. As Rutledge mentioned, he performed well on the left side when he replaced Kelvin Banks due to his own injury. Sarkisian praised the second-year player heading into the World Cup Georgia Matchup.

“I really thought we had the situation under control tonight,” Sarkisian said after the Texas A&M game. “I was really proud of Trevor Goosby when Kelvin went down. He stepped in for his first real action and I thought he performed well in a difficult environment.”
