Hozier’s second Saturday Night Live His musical guest appearance featured “Too Sweet,” his 2024 standout, and the Pogues’ 1987 song “Fairytale of New York.”

Irish singer who debuted on SNL In 2014, he performed his award-winning debut single “Take Me to Church” and opened with “Too Sweet”, a “hard, catchy retro R&B groove”. Rolling Stone wrote when he placed it at number 17 on our list of the top songs of the first half of the year.

Hozier’s latest EP, Unheard, which he released in March, contains four songs he originally intended for Unreal Unearthhis studio album 2023. One of them was “Too Sweet”, the creation of which he described Rolling Stone in a recent interview, as well as his decision to leave it off the album.

“Maybe it’s the pessimist in me,” he said. “I thought to myself, ‘People don’t want to hear this stuff, we’ll just put it away.'”

The song turned out to be his highest-charting single since “Take Me to Church.”

Hozier later returned to the stage with a cover of the Irish folk ballad that appeared on the Pogues’ 1988 album If I should fall from the grace of God. The Christmas-themed title, which has been reissued three times over the years, has performed particularly well around the holidays in Britain and Ireland since around the turn of the century.

Hozier packed his Unreal Unearth He toured New Zealand last month and his last U.S. appearance was at the All Things Go Music Festival in Maryland in September. His next stateside date is currently scheduled for June in Milwaukee.
