Carolina Hurricanes vs. New York Rangers open thread

The Rangers are back home after a three-game road trip that ended with a much-needed win in Dallas on Friday, but the boys in blue will look a little different than the last time they took the ice at Madison Square Garden. Kaapo Kakko played one game on the road trip, was cut for the second game, and was traded to Seattle at the time of the third game, with Will Borgen arriving in his place.

Peter Laviolette’s squad is back over .500 for now, but they’ll have a hard time maintaining that lead when the Carolina Hurricanes come to town tonight. The Hurricanes hold a 1-0 lead in the season series after beating the Rangers in Raleigh the night before Thanksgiving. Therefore, the Blueshirts will look to equalize in that regard and get back-to-back wins for the first time in over a month.

Player to Watch: Will Borgen

A returnee from Kakko, Borgen arrived from Seattle (along with two draft picks) and made his team debut on Friday. It was a solid performance for Borgen as he logged 17:17 of ice time, finished with a +1 rating and received the Broadway Hat for his efforts. Keep an eye on the newest Ranger tonight as Borgen makes his home debut for the Blueshirts in this heated rivalry clash.

Have fun with the game!
