Eagles’ Jalen Hurts is out after suffering a concussion

LANDOVER, Md. – Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was sidelined Sunday against the Washington Commanders due to a concussion.

Hurts left the field midway through the first quarter after his head collided with the turf when he was hit by linebacker Frankie Luvu as he fell to the ground following a 13-yard run.

After being examined in the medical tent, he went in and was later excluded. Former Pittsburgh Steelers signalman Kenny Pickett replaced him in the lineup and completed the drive by throwing a 4-yard touchdown pass to AJ Brown, giving the Eagles a 14-0 lead.

However, Pickett threw an interception to Luvu on the next possession, and Washington scored a touchdown on the ensuing drive, cutting the lead to 14-7.

Hurts hadn’t missed a game all season. In the Eagles’ game against the Commanders in Week 11, it was determined that he had suffered a concussion when his head hit the turf in the first half, but he was allowed to return.
