Browns DE Myles Garrett breaks 100 career sacks

Browns DE Myles Garrett made history.

In Week 16 against the Bengals, Garrett sacked QB Joe Burrow late in the second quarter. Garrett got around G Cody Ford, who brought down Burrow, his first sack of the day and his 100.5 career sack in 115 career games.

Garrett has now surpassed 100 sacks in his career and is the 45thTh Player to do so in NFL history since 1982. Garrett is also the first player since 1982 to have 100 career sacks before his 29th birthday. Garrett turns 29 on December 29th.

Garret joins an elite list of players to record 100 sacks in his first eight seasons. That list includes Reggie White (124), DeMarcus Ware (111), Jared Allen (105) and TJ Watt (104 after Week 12 – 109th career game).

For his career, Garrett had 12 sacks in 11 games entering Week 16 against the Bengals.

“His production is so high, even though he’s a big man, even though every game plan starts with ‘Don’t let 95 ruin the game,’ and he still finds a way to ruin games,” defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz Garrett said on November 29th. “Even if it’s not sacks, it can be batted passes, it can be a running play. I think he’s just done a good job of just being consistent and fighting through some of what people are doing to him. Lots of chips and running away from them can significantly impact productivity.
