Like father, like son!

Charlie Woods, the 15-year-old son of golf great Tiger Woods, celebrated with his father after hitting his first-ever hole-in-one during tournament play at the 2024 PNC Championship in Orlando on Sunday, December 22 .

The “proud father” moment occurred during the fourth hole, in the middle of the second round of the tournament, a day after Tiger took the course with his son and 17-year-old daughter Sam – who acted as his caddy – for the first round of this one Tournament entered annual event.

Charlie, who first teamed up with Tiger for the tournament in 2020 before continuing the family tradition again this year, was captured taking his milestone photo in a video clip shared by the PGA Tour. After Charlie hit the ball, Golf Channel commentators praised the teenager for his “really great contact” before the ball quickly rolled straight into the hole at Ritz-Carlton Golf Club.

According to the PGA Tour, Charlie’s shot landed on a par-3 hole and traveled 176 feet for the ace. He used a 7-iron before the ball landed about 6 feet from the hole and then rolled into the cup.

As Charlie began to walk away from where he had been swinging, he quickly realized he was making a hole-in-one, shrugging his shoulders and smiling as spectators surrounded him. Papa Tiger then walked over, opened his arms for a tight hug, and gave Charlie a playful nudge on the court.

“It was a perfect 7-iron, so I just hit it,” Charlie told the Golf Channel immediately after his milestone. “Bottom left, a little cut 7. It was great. I didn’t think it went in. I don’t believe anyone until I go up there and see it.”

According to CBS, the shot was Charlie’s “first” hole-in-one. His father has scored 20 holes-in-ones in his career, three of them on the PGA Tour Golf monthly.

In another moment shared by the PNC Championship, Charlie was heard calling the shot “fantastic.”

“What a way to do that,” he said, smiling along with his sister.

Charlie’s latest triumph comes as he and his sister accompanied Tiger on another family outing at the PNC Championship – where Sam made her caddying debut in the 36-hole competition last year.

Tiger previously told reporters that he was always “excited” to play a round of golf with his son. “Charlie clearly loves the time he spends with his dad on the golf course,” a source close to Woods told PEOPLE in 2020. “It’s definitely a bonding activity for the two.”

The athlete shares his two children with his ex-wife Elin Nordegren, whom he married in 2004 and divorced in 2010.

“I just love being with them and seeing what they do, what they are capable of – the joys, the changes of interests. It’s just fun. We have a great time together,” Tiger said of his two children back in 2011.

Charlie has since followed in his father’s footsteps as he attempted to qualify for the US Open in April. He failed but later qualified for his first USGA tournament in June. Tiger had previously told reporters that he would be “proud” of Charlie no matter what career path he chose, but was looking forward to taking the court with his son for the first time in 2020 to compete in a tournament at the PNC Championship .

“I don’t think words can describe it.” Tiger said. “Just the fact that we were able to have this experience together, Charlie and I, is a memory for a lifetime.”
