Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots, Week 16, Second Half, Open Thread

At halftime, the Buffalo Bills trail the New England Patriots 14-7. Almost everything that could go wrong for Buffalo happened in the first half, where the Bills fell to a 14-point hole before anyone could bat an eyelid.

There’s little positive to report from Buffalo on offense, save for running back James Cook, who continues his impressive season – the last entry being a 46-yard outing to reward his 14th rushing touchdown of the season.

But this defense. It was terrible at best. Worse than I want to write here. Is it possible that the Bills overlooked the Patriots? Are they focused on the offseason or on the holidays coming up this week? Are they definitely not a cold weather team, but just one that has fun when it snows? Whatever it is, this isn’t playoff football. Luckily, the postseason hasn’t started yet.

New England controls the offensive line, and head coach Sean McDermott called out the defensive line in his quick interview before heading to the locker room to regroup. It’s also obvious that safeties Damar Hamlin and Taylor Rapp are key to the defensive backfield. Buffalo is missing its game significantly this afternoon.

On offense, the Bills should rely on their running game and use it to exploit the pass through Cook, Ty Johnson and Ray Davis. Maybe it would make sense to include receivers like Keon Coleman and Amari Cooper more?

Here’s your second half thread for the rest of tonight’s Bills-Patriots game. Let’s hope the second half is more fun. As always, be kind to one another – and in all things… Go Bills!
