DeMar DeRozan reveals why the Sacramento Kings may need to have “15 cans of energy drink” on hand before games

The Sacramento Kings will look to end their two-game losing streak by taking on the LA Lakers team that beat them in their last game.

A 129-130 loss to the Denver Nuggets was followed by a 100-113 loss to a Lakers team desperate for a win.

Kings coach Mike Brown blamed his team’s loss on “middle school mistakes” and hopes his team can do better in the next game.

Brown recently called out De’Aaron Fox and explained that the star “can’t afford not to be locked up.”

Although the Kings continue to struggle to produce results, they still sit in 12th place in the Western Conference with a record of 13-15.

With the team desperate to find a way back to winning form, veteran player DeMar DeRozan has suggested a more left-leaning idea.

DeRozan suggests the way back to winning ways

It’s no secret that Coach Brown has wanted his Kings team to be able to start games quicker, saying they give opposing teams confidence.

Although Brown made these comments before the first Lakers game, it appears the team did not heed his demands.

The Kings trailed 37-28 after the first quarter, highlighting their struggles early in the game.

NBA veteran DeMar DeRozan was asked how the team can combat its recent poor starts to games.

Speaking to the media, he said: “I mean either we just have to have the right mental approach or we line up 15 cans of Red Bull before the game. One of two things has to happen for us to not put it down. “We put ourselves in those positions early on.”

Asked if mistakes were more highlighted because of the poor run, he explained: “You can’t push yourself too hard like that or you’ll drive yourself crazy. You have to look for mistakes and what needs to be corrected and understand that with all positivity because you will make mistakes.”

Discover the Kings’ slow starts

While it’s been made clear that the Kings are suffering from slow starts, do the numbers reflect that?

As explained, they were down nine points at the end of the first quarter in their last game against the Lakers and a whopping 20 points down in their first game against the Nuggets.

There were wins in the three games before that against the Pelicans, Jazz and Spurs. It was perhaps no surprise that they were ahead early in these games.

The Kings will be desperate for a strong start in their return game against the Lakers, Coach Brown will be demanding an answer.
