Avalanche Game 36 vs Seattle Kraken, lines, notes and how to watch

The Colorado Avalanche (20-15-0) are at home for their third and final meeting against the struggling Seattle Kraken (15-17-2). Puck drop is scheduled for 6:08 p.m. MT.

The Avalanche enter the match with a two-game winning streak. They beat both San Jose and Anaheim back to back and face a Kraken team that played in Vegas the night before. The Golden Knights defeated Seattle 6-2.

There will be no line-up changes for the Avs other than in goal. Mackenzie Blackwood gets the nod after having an off day in Anaheim. Blackwood is 2-1-0 since taking over and has only conceded two goals in each game. Defenseman Josh Manson might have wanted to return during the three-game road trip, but he didn’t play. He again skated in a red non-contact sweater during the optional morning ice skating session. Head coach Jared Bednar said after the game that Manson would “hopefully” be back after the holiday break.

Jonathan Drouin is making progress, but there is no information on when he will return.

Colorado is 8-8-0 at Ball Arena this season and will play most of its games there next month. The team only suffered nine regular season home defeats in 41 games last season. Bednar couldn’t say exactly what the problem was at home, assuming that swapping the two goalkeepers will certainly help. The Avalanche have a certain pattern of playing better each season either at home or away.

Seattle enters the game on a four-game losing streak. To shake up the space, general manager Ron Francis took advantage of the New York Rangers’ struggles by trading Will Borgen and draft picks for young forward Kaapo Kakko. The No. 2 overall pick in 2019 has yet to record a point in his two games since the trade.

Joey Daccord is expected to start for Seattle since Philipp Grubauer played against Vegas.
