New update on possible Zach LaVine-Denver Nuggets trade

Even though the NBA trade deadline isn’t until February, there are already several rumors about what could happen between now and then. The Chicago Bulls are heavily involved in many of these rumors, as veteran stars like Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic could be trade targets for rival teams.

In a recent report, Sam Amick and Tony Jones of The Athletic revealed that the Denver Nuggets are a team interested in LaVine.

On Amick and Jones: “League sources say there is significant focus on LaVine in recent discussions as the Nuggets are interested in the 29-year-old, who is averaging 21.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.5 points this season “2 assists scored.” LaVine, a two-time All-Star, is owed $43 million this season, $45.9 million next season and has a player option worth $48.9 million for the 2026-27 season.”

This report was updated on Friday evening when KC Johnson of Chicago Sports News reported that Chicago has no interest in taking back Zeke Nnaji’s contract as part of a potential LaVine deal.

On Johnson: “I said this on the @CHSN__ pregame show last night, but at least so far, the Bulls have shown no interest in taking Zeke Nnaji’s contract in talks about Zach LaVine.”

That makes sense because Nnaji’s four-year, $32 million contract would be counterproductive to Chicago’s goal of shedding unwanted salaries and creating future flexibility for their rebuilding efforts.
