Watch Vince Gill and his daughter’s beautiful, reimagined tribute to Amy Grant at the Ryman

Vince Gill and Amy Grant welcomed a very special guest to the stage during their Christmas residency at the Ryman Auditorium on Wednesday night. And if her 23-year-old daughter Corinna Grant Gill – whose professional name is Corrina – didn’t steal the entire show, she certainly wowed her audience for the five minutes she was on stage.

Grant introduced her youngest child, the only biological child she and Gill share, to the Ryman stage. Grant told the sold-out audience that she and her husband are always happy when their daughter wants to sing with them. Corinna stepped out in a floor-length black A-line dress embellished with crystals. But it was her voice that captivated the audience.

Grant sat on a stool out of the spotlight and dabbed at his eyes as Corinna began singing a reimagined version of the song Gill wrote for Grant, “When My Amy Prays.” Corrina changed the melody to “When My Mama Prays” and Gill accompanied her on guitar.

Corrina’s voice echoed through the text: All my life I’ve known Jesus But that connection never happened| And when my world was torn to pieces| I still couldn’t say his name| But when my mom prays| When my mom prays| Then I see his face.

Corinna is undoubtedly a stunningly gifted singer, whose crystalline tone is an undeniable combination of her parents’ voices. She sang the song with passion, care and confidence, causing the audience to jump in applause at the end.

The young singer is a graduate of Belmont University and plans to release a new original song after the start of the year. “Doormat,” a vulnerable song about mistreatment and being taken for granted, will be available January 3rd.

Corrina shared a clip of the song on social media with a caption from a man who told her she was proof that even ugly people could sing. His comment didn’t bother her and she wrote: “A moody little comment from a moody little man 🙂 blah blah blah! I giggle and am beautiful aaaand…!.!.!!!!…!! I’m releasing this song in the new year!!!!!! eeeeekkk!!!!🤭🌈🏠🩵 “DOORMAT” is yours on January 3, 2025🌟”

In 2022, Corrina told Belmont’s student newspaper that she wanted to make enough money to have a small house with a small lake, a horse, a small stream, and to be able to grow her own vegetables.

“If it’s at Madison Square Garden, that’s really cool,” Corrina said. “And if it’s in the same little café and the same little old people come every Sunday, that’s totally fine. But I just want to be in the company of people I admire.”
