X (formerly Twiter) is increasing subscription prices in the US by almost 40%! An X Premium Plus subscription now costs $22 per month, down from the previous price of $16 per month. The annual Premium Plus X subscription also increases from $168 to $229.

The platform operated by Elon Musk justifies the price increase with three points. The first section highlights that an X Premium Plus subscription is now completely ad-free, allowing for an uninterrupted browsing experience. “This significant improvement is reflected in the new pricing,” the company writes in an update on its new pricing.

The second reason for the price increase, the platform points out, is that subscribers of higher limits for Grok AI models.

In the third and final point, X reminds subscribers that their money will now go directly to the platform’s Creator Program, which rewards people for quality content and engagement.

“Your Premium Plus subscription fee contributes to this new, fairer system where creators’ revenue is tied to the total value they bring X, rather than ad impressions,” the company writes.

New Premium Plus subscribers will begin paying the new rates immediately, while existing subscribers will be required to pay the revised rates beginning January 20, 2025, or their next billing cycle if after that date.
