After probably the longest 13 years of any Aggie or Longhorn fan’s life, the Lone Star Showdown is back.

And the stakes couldn’t be higher when this legendary rivalry returns.

After Georgia’s win over UMass and Texas A&M’s loss at Auburn last week, the Bulldogs were locked into the SEC Championship.

Your opponents? Whoever comes out on top between the two Texas teams on Saturday night at Kyle Field.

As if this game didn’t already evoke enough emotions for both sides, analyst Paul Finebaum believes it will live up to its hype Stand up Friday morning that this game was the biggest game in the history of the Texas A&M football program.

“They (Texas) need to be on their guard because this is not an exaggeration. This is the biggest game in Texas A&M history,” Finebaum said. “They have been waiting for this since it was announced in December.”

Finebaum added that he liked where A&M was after its four-overtime loss to the Auburn Tigers.

Despite the advantages Texas A&M may have, Finebaum expects the Longhorns to challenge the Georgia Bulldogs for the SEC championship in their first season in the conference.

“As big as it is, Texas is a better team,” Finebaum continued. “I believe they will win and move on to Atlanta next week.”

Even if that’s the case, the Aggies are still eligible for a bowl game, but based on what the 12th Man saw in Mike Elko’s first season, they’d like nothing more than to be in contention to compete for a national championship.

And if they could beat their biggest rivals to do it, it would be even better for Texas A&M.
