President-elect Trump will take the stage in Phoenix, Arizona, on Sunday to deliver his first rally speech since his decisive victory over Vice President Kamala Harris last month.

“We are incredibly honored that President Trump will deliver his first rally speech since the election at AmFest 2024 in Phoenix,” said Charlie Kirk, principal of Turning Point USA and Turning Point Action, in a press release. “This has already been the movement’s largest multi-day event and this year will be by far the largest we have ever hosted.”

“When I spoke to the president, he said he would only do it if we called it a ‘Tribute to Arizona,’ so that’s exactly what we’re doing. President Trump knows that the people of Arizona have always been by his side, them.” “We’re loyal to him and just gave him the biggest win of any swing state, giving him a 5.5% margin of victory.”

Trump is scheduled to take the stage at the Phoenix Convention Center at 10:30 a.m. local time on Sunday as part of Turning Point’s annual AmericaFest – a four-day event billed as part of the “largest conservative movement in the country.”

Trump’s address at the event comes just a day after Congress avoided a lengthy government shutdown.

The Senate passed a stopgap bill early Saturday morning — after the midnight deadline passed and the government briefly shut down — and sent the legislation to President Biden for his signature.

Last week, lawmakers agreed on a short-term spending bill that contained more than 1,500 pages of text. Conservatives and Trump allies led by billionaire Elon Musk criticized the original and lengthy bill as negotiations ended last week, questioning provisions such as lawmakers’ cost-of-living increases.

Trump called on Republicans to suspend the debt limit as part of their talks to avoid a government shutdown that has topped $36 trillion. The House authored a new, 116-page bill that includes suspending the debt limit for two years through January 2027, about $110 billion in disaster relief for Americans affected by storms Milton and Helene, and a measure to finance Baltimore’s reconstruction Francis Scott provided key bridge.

That bill failed by a vote of 174 to 235 before House Democrats negotiated and passed a different version.

The final bill sent to Biden included economic relief for farmers and disaster relief for those affected by recent storms, but did not include a suspension of the debt ceiling that Trump had called for.

Trump has not spoken publicly since the bill’s passage, although sources told Fox News that the new president is not as happy with the bill.

Conservative lawmakers and allies will also take the stage ahead of Trump’s speech on Sunday, including Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, the Trump administration’s incoming “border czar” Tom Homan, comedian Rob Schenider and Kirk.
