NFL playoff picture: The Washington Commanders are on the verge of winning the playoffs

The Washington Commanders started Week 16 and everyone was looking forward to Week 17. The Eagles and their obnoxious fan base came into Northwest Stadium on a 10-game winning streak. Jalen Hurts was ejected from the game in the first quarter and Kenny Pickett had some early success but was suspended for most of the game. The Commanders came from behind to win 36-33.

The Washington Commanders’ playoff odds increased with their surprising win over the Eagles. They didn’t get any help from the Giants, who lost to the Falcons today, but they can clinch a playoff spot on Sunday night when Atlanta visits Washington.

Washington can reach the No. 2 seed if it wins and the Eagles lose their last two games. That scenario is still unlikely, but the more achievable goal is for the Packers to capture the sixth seed in the NFC. They play the struggling Saints on Monday Night Football and are projected to be 11-4 in Week 17. They travel to Minnesota for a rematch with the Vikings and will look to avenge their 31-29 loss earlier in the season.
