How Jerod Mayo felt about Drake Maye’s bold attitude towards the coaching staff

Patriots quarterback Drake Maye supported Jerod Mayo’s coaching staff with a bold stance after a tumultuous week.

“I think it’s a lot of bullshit, to be honest with you,” Maye told reporters after New England’s 24-21 loss to the Bills on Sunday at Highmark Stadium. “Coach Mayo, like I said, these guys are behind him and he coached us hard.”

Mayo didn’t hear Maye’s feelings until they were shared with him, but the first-year head coach clearly appreciated the comments. You mean somethingno doubt. As did Patriots captain Hunter Henry.

“It means a lot. It means a lot,” Mayo told reporters during a video conference Monday morning, according to a video provided by the team. “Hopefully these guys know that I care about them not only as football players but as men. That has always been my message and it has remained consistent throughout the year. I care about these guys as men and I need to continue to improve so we can get in the win column and move forward.”

Mayo’s Patriots took a step in the right direction in Buffalo, as discussed on the NESN podcast “Foxboro Rush.” Entering as a two-touchdown underdog, New England not only covered the spread but also had a competitive product against Josh Allen and the Bills. It was a product that Patriots fans were looking for.

Maye’s comments also complemented the product on site. It’s safe to assume the overall performance will suit Patriots owner Robert Kraft well.
