Travis Hunter deletes Instagram as online mockery of his fiancée grows

Travis Hunter is completely over the moon.

Colorado’s two-way star made headlines on Monday after deactivating his Instagram account amid a tidal wave of criticism that recently engulfed his fiancée, Leanna Lenee.

After winning the Hunter’s Heisman Trophy on December 14, Lenee found herself at the center of online hate, with her appearance at a fan event drawing intense scrutiny on social media.

The ridicule continued from there.

An older video apparently featuring Lenee resurfaced early Monday and appeared to show her dancing on top of another man.

TMZ reported Monday: “It is believed to be a clip that was recorded several years ago – before (Lenee) and Hunter got together.”

Hunter, whose engagement to Lenee was announced earlier this year, recently supported his fiancée on a Twitch livestream after the Heisman ceremony, saying she was drunk and cried herself to sleep in the wake of the hate.

“You’ve never had a girl before, so why are you all talking about me,” the Buffaloes wide receiver and cornerback said. “Find someone to talk about… Talk about your girl. Go find a girl. Go find a life. Don’t worry about what I’m up to. I know what I have.

“My girl has been with me for five years. You’re just starting to talk about me… You’re going to do something different with your life. Clickbait sites stop, you better stop, I’m telling you all. Something bad will happen to all of you (if you keep doing this). You better stop it. I don’t play.

Hunter, 21, previously defended Lenee when the pair were involved in an awkward post-game moment last month.

Leanna Lenee addressed the topic in a long TikTok video.

Shortly after Colorado’s dominant 52-0 win over Oklahoma State, Hunter tried to hug Lenee, who appeared to turn away.

“A lot could happen in the stands, people don’t understand,” Hunter said on a December episode of “The Pivot Podcast.”

“She might look irritated at me, but at the same time she has to deal with a lot of things during the game. There’s a lot of things people don’t see on camera.”

As the controversy continued to grow, sports media personalities such as Shannon Sharpe and Nate Burleson commented on Lenee and Hunter’s relationship.

In recent comments to TMZ, Burleson said that when someone’s private life is broadcast on a public platform, it is subject to the comments associated with it.

“It’s everyone else’s business because this couple made it public,” the former NFL receiver and later CBS analyst said.

“I can’t complain when people respond. This is social media. You can’t say mind your own business or keep your opinions to yourself when you’ve shared them with everyone.”

Hunter has the potential to be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
