Organic Costco Egg Recall, Also in Georgia, Upgraded to Highest Danger Level by FDA – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA – The Food and Drug Administration has upgraded a recent recall of organic Kirkland eggs sold at Costco to the highest health hazard.9*9

As Channel 2 action news As previously reported, the eggs were voluntarily recalled in late November due to the risk of salmonella exposure.

Now the 24-egg packs sold at Costco in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee have been upgraded to a Class I hazard.

A Hazard Class 1 means that a product “presents a situation in which there is a reasonable likelihood that use of or contact with a violative product will result in serious health consequences or death.”

Previously, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced a recall of nearly 11,000 retail units of organic eggs due to possible salmonella contamination.

Handsome Brook Farms, which voluntarily conducted the recall, said the eggs were sold at 25 locations.

“The recall was initiated after the company discovered that eggs not intended for retail distribution were instead packaged and distributed in retail packaging. Additional controls and retraining in the supply chain will be implemented to prevent a recurrence,” the company said.

To find out if your eggs are on the recall list, you should know the following:

  • The item is 24 eggs from organic pasture farming UPC 9661910680
  • Sold from November 22, 2024
  • Has an expiration date of January 6, 2025

There have been no reports of illness so far.
