Police presence at Katy Mills Times | reported Houston news

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said there was no active shooter and called it an “isolated incident.”

KATY, Texas – According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, a person may have been shot at Katy Mills Mall, prompting a large police presence in the area Monday evening.

Located on Katy Mills Circle near the Katy Freeway, the mall features more than 107 stores.

Gonzalez initially said a person was shot near the mall, possibly in the parking lot, and that both the shooter and the victim left the scene. In an update, Gonzalez said there appeared to be a shooting at the mall.

There is no active shooter and he called it an “isolated incident.” According to Gonzalez, the two people involved left the scene.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Katy Police Department and HCSO is assisting with traffic control while attempting to clear the mall.
