What did Stephen Jones say about Mike McCarthy’s future after the Cowboys’ win over the Bucs?

Count Stephen Jones among those who approve of the Cowboys’ efforts in recent weeks.

With a key weapon like Micah Parsons back in the fold, Mike McCarthy’s Cowboys put together some impressive performances to end the regular season. The Cowboys have won four of their last five games and will be hoping a strong result can carry over to a better 2025.

Shortly after Dallas’ 26-24 victory over Tampa Bay, Jerry Jones gave his head coach due praise. Stephen Jones joined the Cowboys owner in praising McCarthy’s work during his recent appearance on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM).

“Our boys are there to show that they are very proud. “This is a team that is NFC East champions and has won 12 games three years in a row and obviously wants to show everyone what these guys are about,” Stephen Jones said Monday. “That’s about over 40% of our IR salary cap, and those are some of the people we think are the most of them and are also some of our biggest competitors.”

“Seeing CeeDee Lamb out there competing like he was competing. Everyone says, ‘Well, they get paid and they don’t play the same way.’ Certainly he’s showing everyone that it’s not just about the money, it’s about competing, winning and being the best you can be.”

With their playoff fate decided, the Cowboys believe a strong finish can be the stepping stone to 2025

The Cowboys’ chief operating officer added that he’s not surprised to see the team continue its fighting efforts under coaches like McCarthy and Mike Zimmer. When asked where McCarthy stands with the organization given his contract status, Stephen Jones said the team will be concerned about the future after its final game against Washington on Jan. 5.
