Matt LaFleur provides an update on the Packers’ injuries following their win against the Saints

After the Green Bay Packers’ 34-0 win on Monday Night Football In the game against the New Orleans Saints, head coach Matt LaFleur answered a few uncomfortable questions about the health of his squad.

Receiver Christian Watson left the game with a knee injury, which required him to visit the blue medical tent, although he was able to leave the field under his own power. Watson then returned to the field for a moment before being eliminated for a second time.

LaFleur explained that there are “some concerns” about Watson’s situation. Apparently the decision to sign Watson a second time was made by the coaching staff, who felt Watson couldn’t “play the type of football” they expected and therefore “took it on.” According to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman, Watson stated in the locker room after the game that he was “hoping for the best.”

The head coach also noted that running back Josh Jacobs – who was slightly hobbled – was ready to get back into the game against the Saints, but the coaching staff did not feel the situation required the back carry to be at less than 100%. received full health.

Safety Evan Williams did not play for the Packers today after injuring his quadriceps in practice this week. His entry into the game was listed as questionable, but LaFleur claimed after the game that Williams would be out “for a period of time.” He hopes that it will be safe again by the postseason.

If Williams is out, the Packers will have to decide who they want to play with on the field in the future. If it’s rookie Javon Bullard who is out today, then Williams’ replacement at the safety position would likely be Zayne Anderson, who made his first career start tonight. If Bullard replaces Williams at safety, that means cornerback Keisean Nixon will be on the field assuming he’s healthy.

In a short week, Green Bay faces a huge game on Sunday against their division rival Minnesota Vikings. The only way for the Packers to move into fifth place in the NFC playoffs is with a win against Minnesota. If they lose to the Vikings, they will no longer have control of the NFC’s sixth seed as long as the Washington Commanders continue to beat the Atlanta Falcons Football on Sunday evenings.

Hopefully they can get a little healthier by Wednesday, when they will begin preparing for the Vikings.
