Castleton Square Mall was evacuated Monday evening after Indianapolis police reported shots were fired inside the mall around 8:30 p.m

According to police, people involved in an “altercation” fired shots in one of the mall’s entrances near a Kay jewelry store. Police initially reported no injuries from the shooting, but later said a man arrived at the emergency room at Eskenazi Hospital with a gunshot wound that officials believe he sustained during the shooting. The man’s condition was stable, police said.

The filming takes place less than two days before Christmas, one of the busiest shopping times of the year.

“How many families have been put at risk… how short the holidays are… this can’t continue to happen,” said IMPD Officer Tommy Thompson.
